A Fitness Instructor’s Honest Review of Italic’s Activewear

As a Spin and HIIT instructor, I wear a lot of workout wear. I’ve tried dozens of brands, from high-dollar to dupes and everything in between. So, when I saw that one of my favorite brands, Italic, had activewear, I knew I was going to have to test it out myself.

Italic offers a little bit of everything when it comes to workout clothes: leggings, shorts, biker shorts, sports bras, tanks, and sweatshirts. And most of it is made by the same manufacturer as Alo Yoga (a brand I love!).

I wanted to try a full-outfits-worth of items, so I got the matching sports bra and pants (I’m a sucker for a cute set!), a tank top and I even threw in the water bottle. Over the last few weeks, I have lifted, ran, cycled, and stretched in my new Italic activewear so I could share my honest feedback with you all and, spoiler alert, I’m impressed!

Aura Racerback Sports Bra

I want this sports bra in every color. Not only is it flattering, it’s also incredibly soft, supportive and the perfect thickness for any workout. It runs true to size, with a thick band on the bottom that does not roll and a neck that comes up a little higher than many of my sports bras, which I personally like. I felt supported and secure during my entire HIIT workout and it was super cute with the matching eucalyptus pants. My only warning is that the Eucalyptus color does show sweat easily, so if that’s something that bothers you, you may want to consider getting the Aura Racerback Sports Bra in black.

Aura High Rise Legging, Full Length and ⅞, Eucalyptus

I’ll start by saying this: I got the full length Aura legging in Eucalyptus and liked them so much that I immediately got the ⅞ length in black, too. Needless to say, these leggings are great.

They’re a nylon-spandex blend, which makes them soft and breathable without sacrificing thickness. Yes–these leggings pass the squat test with flying colors. They’re high-waisted, (with a hidden back pocket) so I felt supported and contoured throughout my workout, from my spin class to the squat rack. The seams and cut of these leggings are extremely flattering and I get compliments every time I wear them, especially when I pair them with the matching Aura sports bra. Like the sports bra, just keep in mind that the eucalyptus leggings do show sweat and they run true to size.

Aura Racerback Tank

The Aura Racerback Tank (I got black!) with its built in bra and soft material, is a great workout tank. Sometimes with fitted tank tops, I get a little overheated, especially when the spin studio is packed! But the Aura Racerback is the same breathable material as the other products, so I didn’t notice it holding in any extra heat during my workout. The racerback straps are comfortable, the perfect thickness and super flattering.

I ordered my normal size, but probably could have sized up. If you plan on wearing an actual sports bra under the tank, you may want to bump up a size to be comfortable.

Vacuum Insulated Water Bottle

To round out my Italic activewear test, I also got the Insulated Water Bottle, which was just the cherry on top of my order. I’m in the camp that you can never have too many water bottles (despite running out of cabinet space to store them) & this one works great. It’s sleek and fits in both the side pocket of my gym bag and the bottle holder on the spin bike. My drink stayed cold the entire workout.

All the items wash great (I always wash my workout clothes inside out!) and the colors are still vibrant even after weeks of wear and multiple washes. All in all, I’m extremely impressed with Italic’s activewear and think it’s great, especially for the affordable price, for all types of workouts.
